Backpacking Trips
Men: MARCH 28-30 | Women: APRIL 25-27
Embark on an adventure that is sure to challenge and renew you physically, mentally and spiritually!
Participants on both men's and women's backpacking trips will tackle approximately 12-15 miles on one of the most beautiful hiking trails in western Pennsylvania! We will carry everything we need for the trip on our backs and enjoy the beauty of God's Creation together as we dive into His Word and spend time in group discussion, personal reflection and solitude throughout the weekend.
This is an experience you'll never forget.
Must be at least 18 years old to participate.
*Boys 16-17 years old may attend with their father or mentor
*Girls16-17 years old may attend with their mother or mentor

*Please note, camping on trip is primitive -
no running water or electricity
Note on Registration: When you register, you will enter your personal information as both the camper and the parent (it should look like you are your own parent). If your kids have come as campers before, you can use the same account and add yourself as a child. We apologize for any confusion - if you have any questions please call our office at 814-629-9834.

*The Laurel Highlands Trail is a physically demanding trail with several sections of prolonged elevation gain and uneven, rocky, steep descents. Participants must
be in excellent physical condition and ready to tackle some difficult terrain!

Men's Speaker :
Spencer Brougher
Spencer was born and raised in
Somerset and loves getting outside
as often as possible. Spencer is a
husband to Jenn and Dad to Emerson
who is about to turn 2. Spencer and
Jenn are expecting their second child
in late August. He currently works at Somerset Area School District as a media professional. Spencer worked as the Director of Student Ministries at St. Paul’s EPC for 9 years and has continued his work with students by starting the non-profit organization, Movement Collective which seeks to get kids outdoors and active. He also ran a video production company full-time prior to his work at SASD. Spencer believes in the power of shared experience, the importance of overcoming obstacles, and thinks that the best place to do that sorta thing is outside. He enjoys mountain biking, rock climbing, hunting, and skiing and especially enjoys sharing those activities with others. Spencer also believes that the best place to connect with the Lord is in HIs Creation.

Women's Speaker:
Maddy Duffield
Maddy grew up coming to
Pine Springs Camp. She
worked on Tim Team and as a counselor from 2013-2016. She met her now husband, Dan Duffield, at camp and they will be married for 6 years in May. In 2022, they returned to work at Pine Springs Camp, Dan as the Day Camp Director and Maddy as an Administrative Assistant. She is also a substitute teacher in the local schools and is currently completing a master’s degree and certification to become a teacher.
Maddy has a heart for ministry and missions. In college, she studied Bible and Theology and Intercultural studies and spent a year and a half serving as a student missionary in Indonesia. She loves reading and teaching the Bible and is excited to spend time learning from the Word of God, each other, and God’s creation during the trip.
Maddy loves crafting, reading, biking, and spending time with Dan, their cat Fat Louie, and 2 aquatic snails.
